Julian Bishko letters to Lucretia Caroline Ramsey [manuscript], 1933-1934.

Bishko describes Madrid and several other places he visited including Córdoba, Mérida, Granada, the Escorial, Toledo, Santiago de Compostela, and León; his research on the Spanish monastic tradition; fellow scholars Lewis Hanke and France V. Scholes; national elections; theater,concerts and carnival; effect of Roosevelt's devaluation of the dollar;and a general strike in April, 1934. He mentions brief meetings with Claude Bowers and the future Cardinal Tedeschini. A variety of clippings, programs, tickets, etc., are inserted.

France V. Scholes was born in Bradford, Illinois, in 1897. He received his degrees from Harvard University. A tuberculosis patient, he came to Albuquerque in 1924.
